Yesterday (May 23) Leona made an appearance to launch BBC Radio 1 & 1Xtra’s Hackney Weekend. She performed a reggae remix of her Better In Time mixed with Rihanna‘s new single Man Down. She also performed Let The Sun Shine.I’ve added 35 MQ photos to the gallery.

The pair split last summer in what was said to be an acrimonious break-up. The X Factor winner is now using the split as inspiration for her third record.

A source told the Sunday Mirror: “Leona was with Lou for over ten years and things ended very badly.

“But what you live through makes you stronger, and Leona’s throwing all her emotion into the music she’s working on. She means business. This album needs to be daring and innovative.”

Lyrics to a track she wrote with songwriter Emeli Sande called ‘Trouble’ include: “I told you never to get used to me, I stay awake while you fall asleep. I’m a whole lot of trouble, we’re in a whole lot of trouble. You shout louder than you used to, and you hold on tighter in the bedroom.”

She is recording with David Guetta and Beyoncé producer Rico Love for the album, as well as working on a track called ‘Mountains’ with former Blazin’ Squad members Flava (James Murray) and Mus (Mustafa Omer).

Simon Cowell is allegedly lining her up to perform on The X Factor USA just before Christmas to promote the album.

Lewis revealed in December that her upcoming LP will be influenced by her personal life.

Billboard reports that Leona Lewis, Natasha Bedingfield, OneRepublic’s Ryan Tedder and Donna Summer will all serve as guest judges for the show.

As previously reported, the show features 12 aspiring songwriters who have to compete in challenges, with DioGuardi, who’s written a string of hits for the likes of Kelly Clarkson and Celine Dion, acting as head judge.

Jewel will host the show and give the contestants feedback. The winner receives $100,000, a publishing deal and a recording deal.

The contestants for the show have also been announced and USA Today reports that at least two of them previously appeared on DioGuardi’s old show — American Idol. They include Jes Hudak, who made it to the Hollywood round in season five, and Jackie Tohn, who was a top 36 semi-finalist in season eight, Dioguardi’s first year as a judge.

It was rumoured earlier this year that Lewis was leaving her usual music style behind and going for something different.

Reports claimed Lewis is set to leave her ballads behind and make her dustup debut on her third album.

Leona Lewis, the winner of “The X Factor” U.K. Season 3 in 2006, has now signed on for another reality-show singing contest. Lewis will be a mentor on “Major & Minors,” which is open to contestants from the ages of 8 to 16. The TV series premieres in the United States on The Hub network at an autumn 2011 date to be announced.

The winner of “Major & Minors” gets a record deal with the RCA/Jive Label Group, a contract with Boardwalk Entertainment Group, a music publishing deal and a chance to become a featured star in a tour with the “Major & Minors” cast. BMI has partnered with Boardwalk Entertainment on “Major & Minors.”

There will be several mentors (called “majors”) on the show. In addition to Lewis, other famous music artists who are confirmed to be on “Major & Minors” include “American Idol” 2007 winner Jordin Sparks, Sean Kingston, Ryan Tedder of OneRepublic.
